Black Anodized 6061 – T6 Aluminum Part
This project was send by a customer prepared in SolidWorks native format. After importing a file into our SolidWorks HSMWorks software our CNC programmer created toolpath for all required features according to specification. After programming we used our 5 axis CNC machine Haas UMC 750 to manufacture the part. Firstly we roughed the part out to take bulk of material and gradually milled it. Some surfaces required 16 micro inch surface finish. This part had over forty interconnecting holes and chambers from different sides. Thanks to our 5 Axis machine we were able to rebore and clean up all intersections quickly and inexpensively.
Because of using 5 axis setup we were able to keep all the tight true positioning for all wholes. After CNC machining our CMM inspection equipment was used to verify all positions. In the end the part was black anodized by third party according to a client’s specification.
Anodizing, unlike most other finishes, preserves the natural luster, texture, and beauty of the metal itself. The anodized coating is hard, durable, will never peel, and will never wear through. Anodizing is a process for finishing aluminum alloys after CNC machining that employs electrolytic oxidation of the aluminum surface to produce a protective oxide coating.
