12,000 rpm, inline direct-drive spindle:
This inline, direct-drive system couples the motor directly to the spindle rather than using belts. This results in less vibration, less heat and less noise than other drive systems, so it gives better surface finishes, more thermal stability and quiet operation.
5-Axis VMC:
5-axis profiling vertical machining centers provides a cost-effective solution for large five-axis machining operations. Many industries today, especially in the high-tech world of aerospace and automotive design, are turning to 5-axis machining as a means to speed manufacturing ability and increase repeatable accuracy.
Massive cast-iron construction:
All Haas 5 axis CNC machines are built utilizing American-made cast-iron components, which provide up to ten times the damping capacity of steel. Haas castings are internally reinforced with numerous heavy ribs to resist flex and damp vibrations, and each one is thoroughly inspected to ensure it is free of flaws.
High-speed side-mount tool changer:
The newly designed 24+1 side-mount tool changer uses lighter materials and a high-performance servo motor, for tool changes that take 1.6 seconds tool to tool. This Haas-built 5 axis 40-taper tool changer stores tools out of the work envelope to free up valuable workspace for large fixtures and rotary tables.
Powerful 30-horsepower (22 kW) vector drive:
A high-performance motor combined with the Haas-designed vector drive produces the fastest, most powerful spindle output ever. This true closed-loop system doubles low-speed torque and accelerations. Maximum torque for this 30-hp direct-drive spindle is 75 ft-lb (102 Nm) at 2100 rpm.
1200-ipm (30.5 m/min) rapids:
High-pitch ballscrews and high-torque, brushless servo motors on all axes provide rapids of 1200 ipm to keep non-machining time to a minimum. And with precision cutting speeds of up to 833 ipm (21.2 m/min), cycle times are significantly reduced.
Hardened-steel bearing packs:
Haas uses hardened-steel bearing packs rolling on hardened-steel ways. Built using the same precision grinding technology utilized in bearing manufacturing, they feature zero clearance and full load-carrying capacity in all directions.
100% ball bar testing before shipping:
Haas uses a stringent ball bar test that not only checks linear accuracy, but also the cnc machine geometry. This ensures the three-dimensional squareness and accuracy of each 5 axis machine.
